IFS Groups & Workshops
Enhancing self understanding and social connection
We are currently offering a number of IFS informed groups; groups are effective for supporting people in improving the quality of their relationships, as well as in increasing comfort with their own and others emotions, and in improving confidence in communicating with others in ways that support healthy closeness and intimacy in relationships. Group work can be helpful in addition to or in place of individual therapy; it can enhance feelings of connectedness, and reduce feelings of loneliness, stress and anxiety and enhance a sense of belonging.
The groups we're currently offering are all based in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. IFS is an evidence-based therapy approach that honors we as humans are all comprised of many parts inside of us that have helped to protect us and our wounded parts from childhood and traumatic experiences. It honors that each part of us is worthy of being seen, understood and supported.
IFS is helpful for group work because it provides
-
a shared language, structure, and group norms
-
a common language which enhances group cohesion & safety
-
a less stigmatizing approach for working with symptoms of anxiety, depression, loneliness, etc. and views them as part of us and not all of us
-
a way for us to speak for, and not from parts, which reduces risk of shame and increases likelihood of effective communication.
The goals of the IFS groups being offered are to help you to:
-
learn more about yourself and your inner world, especially parts of you that come up in social settings and in relationships
-
practice your IFS skills in being with and getting to know parts of you, and in learning to speak for them in a group setting
-
make connections with others, find resonance and compassion with your own and others parts.
We offer both short-term and long-term, topical and ongoing process and support groups. Overall, the purpose of these groups is to support you in deepening your understanding of yourself, your relationships, and how you communicate and build healthy connections with others.

Women Without Children: An IFS Process Group*
We're currently enrolling clients for an ongoing, interpersonal process group specifically for women who do not have children whether by choice or based on life circumstances. Though still in the minority, more and more women are finding themselves without children. Some consciously or unconsciously make the choice to forego motherhood, while others find themselves delaying it due to school and career only to find once they are ready their partner is not, or they're not partnered. Still others find after many pregnancy losses or inability to get pregnant that they or their partner are physically unable.
Regardless of the circumstances, women without children find themselves facing different social, emotional and psychological impacts due to differences in their experiences as their path in life follows one that differs from their peers, families, and friends. As this is a process group, conversation will not be limited to but may include exploring:
-
complicated feelings of loss, grief, and loneliness of not having a child
-
feelings of freedom, acceptance, and contentment at living without children
-
the unique experiences around being a woman without children, including the impact on relationships, self-esteem, work/family life balance, feelings of loss, meaning/purpose in life, and legacy among other topics
Whether you identify as childless or childfree, we're holding space for women living without children to connect, share, and build support in a safe courageous space.
